Users who selected the "anyone with the link" option when publishing artifacts have found project plans, client details and clinical trial data listed in public search results. The same indexing previously affected Claude chats.

The artifacts contain financial models, salary tables with employee names, CRM exports, unreleased product roadmaps, draft contracts, health trackers, tax documents and API keys. One reported case showed a full clinical trial summary containing real patient data.

Only two visibility settings exist for artifacts: private to the owner or accessible by anyone who has the link. Search engines treat the second option as public content and index it regardless of user intent.

Anthropic has not issued an official statement on the indexing. Users who previously published artifacts are advised to review their shared items and change visibility settings for any content they do not intend to make public.
