A 15-year-old suspect is held in juvenile detention on charges of firearms violations and first-degree assault and was due in court Monday afternoon, Mayor Katie Wilson said via AP News. The incident took place on Sunday beneath the Space Needle during the festival. Police continue to search for a second person involved.

Assistant Police Chief Tyrone Davis said investigators believe the two suspects were shooting at each other. He added there is no ongoing threat to the public. Seattle Police Chief Sean Barnes did not rule out that the detained teenager could be among those killed.

The 15-year-old remains in custody while authorities determine the sequence of events. Police have not released further details on the identities or conditions of the victims.
